Program Specialist, Climate Change and Sustainable Energy
The Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia, announces an open competition for the position of the Program Specialist, Climate Change and Sustainable Energy
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Thorough analysis of the respective situation and developments in the Central Asian region
- Preparation and implementation of CAREC`s “Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Program” projects
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders
- Keep track of the projects in the area of climate change, including mitigation, adaptation and climate resilience, and monitor the quality of information in database
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the design, implementation and/or management of projects and application of relevant approaches to climate change mitigation, adaptation
- Experience in strategic planning, partnership development, systems analysis, and organization of complex programmes is an asset
- Knowledge and/or experience in GHG reduction technologies, energy efficiency, development of sustainable energy plans (sectoral or local level) renewable energy
Other competencies:
- Strong analytical, research and writing skills with demonstrated ability to think strategically; Ability to produce high quality analytical reports in a timely manner while understanding and anticipating the evolving partner needs
- Strong organizational skills; Sound judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong inter-personal, negotiation and liaison skills
- Availability to travel within the region and abroad
Education:
- Degree in climate change science, environmental management, economics, international development or other closely related field
Languages:
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English essential; spoken and written fluency in Russian is highly desirable; knowledge of other Central Asian languages is an asset
